ABOUT US
We engineer organoids by developing technologies allowing us to guide stem-cell derived morphogenesis and organogenesis. We seek to understand developmental complexity and the relationship between cell fate and multicellular form by systematically decontructing and reconstructing these processes in-vitro. We tackle this challenge by rebuilding the multifactorial in-vivo microenvironment using synthetic artificial extracellular matrices and advanced microfluidic devices.
We focus on two new organoid model systems mimicking the development of the spinal cord and skeletal muscle. Our research aims to show that the way forward towards engineering larger scale tissue constructs involve harnessing cells’ inherent capacities for self-organization by providing customized, mechanically active supportive microenvironments.
