Team CUBETM shaker table

The Lightweight structures and Vehicle Technologies Lab features a Team CUBETM shaker table, which provides high frequency full 6 dof excitation.

Specifications

Normal payloads up to 500 kg, special applications up to 1000 kg

Test objects can be mounted on the sides of the CUBE if desired, easing fixturing and more closely replicating actual installation conditions.

  • Stroke: 101.6mm vertical (Z), 50.8 mm horizontal (X Y)
  • Velocity: 0.96 m/s
  • Acceleration: 10g

LMS TWR software is used to accurately reproduce recorded load data. The shaker is designed to exactly reproduce recorded road data in the laboratory, with unprecedented frequency response and acceleration accuracy.

An important aspect of the CUBE's capability to produce full range of motion simultaneously. For example, at full displacement laterally, the CUBE can also provide full displacement vertically and longitudinally.

A wide variety of automotive components and sub-assemblies benefit from this flexible testing capability. These include seats, instrument panels, doors, fuel tanks, exhaust systems and others.

Example applications from previous projects

  • EN 61373 Shock & Vibration certification for railroad subsystems (1-dof, X/Y/Z, 5-150Hz, 5g, 500 kg)
  • ASTM 4728 vibration testing of mobile CCM systems (1-dof, X/Y/Z, 2-300Hz, 2g, 150 kg)
  • RVC testing of automotive subchassis (6-dof, 10-300Hz, 0.2g, 30 kg)
  • Open loop identification through tire patch excitation on a C-class car trimmed body (6-dof, X/Y/Z/pitch/roll/yaw, 5-450Hz, 0.2g, quarter car weight approx.200kg)
  • TWR road reproduction through tire patch excitation on a B-class car (3-dof, XYZ, 5-150Hz, 3g, quarter car weight approx.300kg)
  • TWR road reproduction through tire patch excitation on a C-class car (3-dof, XYZ, 5-85Hz, 4g, quarter car weight approx.375kg)
