Heat transfer test room

A test room, constructed according to the EN244 standard, is available to test heat transfer processes in and between HVAC and other equipment both in nominal and in transient working conditions. Due to its possibility to fix the wall temperature, the test room is highly suitable to test equipment characterized by a considerable radiative fraction within the heat exchange . The test room as well as the tested equipment can be cooled or heated, according to the specific requirements of the test.
Both steady state heat power determination (following EN244, EN 14037 or EN14240) and transient heat transfer behaviour measurements are possible. The available test room controller (Siemens® PRV2) enables imposing any temperature trajectory, both for heating and cooling in a temperature range between 12°C and 70°C and controlling the water flow, both to the test room and to the tested object. Temperature and voltage measurements inside the test room are recorded using an Agilent® data logger. Communication with both the Siemens controller and the Agilent data logger is centralised in a Matlab® routine.
The transient heat transfer measurements are highly suitable to test the effect of control strategies on temperature evolution and heat flow variations.
A hoist is available to install heavy test objects.
The test room has been constructed with the appreciated support of Radson, Uponor, Siemens and Daikin.
