Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary area of engineering that combines mechanical and electrical engineering and computer science to derive all-embracing and thus more optimal designs/applications. The research in this group focusses on applications that benefit from active involvement of the human.  Optimal design then implies taking into account the presence of a human-in-the-loop already at the design stage. In this sense the traditional view on mechatronics is expanded here. Typical applications under investigation are tactile, haptic feedback for human-robot interaction, teleoperation, etc...
