"Best Exploitation Plan Award" for Joris Walraevens, Bert Willaert and Gert Heirman
Joris Walraevens, Bert Willaert and Gert Heirman received a ‘Best Exploitation Plan Award’ for their Spine-off project presented in the framework of the Leuven Research and Development training course on ‘Exploitation of Research’.

On the 12th of May 2010, 20 groups of doctoral students and/or postdocs presented their exploitation plans in the framework of the LRD training course on ‘Exploitation of Research: Technology and knowledge transfer’. Based on research on the biomechanics of cervical spine prostheses, Joris Walraevens, Bert Willaert and Gert Heirman presented their Spine-off project: a company that will provide motion analyses of the spine and pre-operative planning for spinal surgery.
They received a ‘Best exploitation plan award’ from the jury (Marc Lambrechts (Capricorn), Herman Verrelst (Cartagenia), Rudi Cuyvers (LRD) and Veerle Bruggeman (DOC)). This event was organized by LRD with support of Arenberg Doctoral School, Doctoral School of Biomedical Sciences, Industrieel Onderzoeksfonds, Vlaanderen in Actie, het Agentschap Ondernemen, EFRO, Provincie Vlaams-Brabant and the Vlaamse Gemeenschap.

Op 12 Mei 2010 stelden 20 teams van doctoraatsstudenten en/of postdocs hun exploitatie plannen voor in het kader van een LRD trainingscursus over ‘Exploitation of Research: Technology and knowledge transfer’. Gebaseerd op onderzoek over de biomechanica van cervicale discus protheses, stelden Joris Walraevens, Bert Willaert and Gert Heirman hun Spine-off project voor: een bedrijf dat bewegingsanalyses van de wervelkolom zal uitvoeren samen met een preoperatieve planning van chirurgie op de wervelkolom.
Zij kregen hiervoor een ‘Beste exploitatie plan award’ van de jury (Marc Lambrechts (Capricorn), Herman Verrelst (Cartagenia), Rudi Cuyvers (LRD) and Veerle Bruggeman (DOC)).
